Common faults of automobile battery

Mar 05, 2023

Battery power loss
Battery power loss -- the test result shows that the battery is good and needs to be charged
1. Fault phenomenon
(1) The car is difficult to start and the light is weak
(2) Detect that the battery CCA is much lower than the standard value
(3) The voltage detection is in the state of power loss and needs not to be charged
2. Cause of fault
(1) The output voltage of automobile generator is lower than the normal range (13.8-14.4V)
(2) The power of the consumer is greater than the output power of the generator
(3) Vehicle static leakage current is too large
(4) Corrosion of connector or aging of harness leads to excessive voltage drop during startup
(5) Storage time is too long or storage temperature is too high
(6) Excessive use of electrical equipment at standstill
3. Methods of preventing and handling faults
(1) The deep-deficient battery shall be recharged with small current outside the vehicle.
(2) Detect vehicle and battery related equipment, and solve the problems of electric leakage and charger.
(3) Frequently check the status of the connection between the harness and the end post to keep it clean, dry and firmly connected.
(4) Develop good car use habits and avoid excessive power consumption when the engine is not running.
Battery failure
Battery failure -- the test result is to replace the battery
1. Fault phenomenon
(1) It is difficult or impossible to start the vehicle
(2) The test result of the tester is to replace the battery
(3) Cause of failure
◆ Application defects
(1) The battery life expires.
(2) The battery is often deeply discharged (vehicle leakage or improper operation, such as forgetting to turn off the vehicle's electrical appliances at night, watching the on-board DVD, etc.) without charging in time.
(3) The storage time of the storage battery is too long or the loaded battery vehicle has been put aside for a long time, resulting in deep power loss, no regular charging and maintenance, and the internal plate vulcanization.
(4) The battery is overcharged, the battery is used with high strength and the use environment is relatively high, which leads to the loss of water in the battery and the falling off and corrosion of the active material on the electrode plate.
(5) Improper battery adaptation results in "small horse pulling big cart".
