European automotive buyers have a familiar complaint: a standard snap dome that exists in our Qingdao catalog takes four to six weeks to cross the border, clear customs, and reach a Tier 1 assembly line in Germany, the Czech Republic, or Spain. That lead time is fine for production forecasts but painful for prototypes, line-side samples, and emergency replacements. Starting this quarter, SUNAURA Machinery is changing that picture with a dedicated European consignment stock program for four-legged stainless steel metal domes and standard round snap domes.
What is actually in stock
The program covers the highest-turnover SKUs our European customers already buy. On the shelf today: 6mm, 8mm, and 12mm SUS301 round domes in 180g, 250g, and 350g actuation force; four-leg domes in 8.5mm and 12mm; and cross tactile metal domes in 9.5mm. These are the shapes that show up in steering wheel switches, center console controls, and door lock modules. Non-standard diameters, custom plating, and pre-applied PET dome sheet arrays still ship from Qingdao, but with a two-week target instead of six.
Why European buyers asked for this
The last two program audits we sat through told the story clearly. Engineering teams in Stuttgart and Munich are qualifying automotive snap domes on 12-week cycles, and a two-week delay on a sample batch pushes a whole design freeze. One customer in the Rhine-Ruhr region even flew an engineer to Qingdao once to wait on a reel. None of that is necessary for a standard part.
The consignment stock sits in a bonded forwarder near the Dutch-German border. We own the inventory until it is called off against a PO, which means no minimum order commitment for the buyer and no surprise customs brokerage. Standard SKUs ship on a next-working-day basis inside the EU.
Documentation that already travels with every reel
Every box leaves the forwarder with a PPAP-ready dossier: dimensional report per lot, actuation-force histogram sampled at 30 pieces per reel, salt-spray test certificate for the gold flash, and a RoHS/REACH declaration. How to ask for stock
Send us the dome drawing, the annual forecast, and the EU delivery address. We will confirm within one working day which SKUs are available from forward stock and quote the landed cost. If your part is not on the shelf, we will tell you honestly and give you the Qingdao lead time. We are not going to pretend every part is local.
